Lopers,

Winter Wings Run is Sunday Feb 20th at 2:00 PM. Sign up is day of the race at Klamath Wildlife Center on Miller Island Road. There is 2
two mile run/walk and a 5K run. Entry fee is $5. Email me or call for info. 541-882-1453

We will have Lopers Board meeting on Wednesday Feb 16th at 7:00 PM at the Community Room on the corner of 4th and Pine. Everyone is welcome.

Updates from Homer

Hi folks,

The yucky weather is upon us. We are still having our Wednesday night get together's at 6:00 PM. I will be at Veterans Park tomorrow night for a slow run/walk but some folks are going to meet at the KU track for speed work. See our Facebook account.

Our monthly meeting is tomorrow night at the community room, 4th and Pine, 7:00 PM. All are welcome.

Raindeer Romp is this Saturday. 10:00 AM at Steens Sports Park. It is a 5k and entry fee is a child's Christmas gift or a cash donation. All proceeds will go to the Gospel Mission. Hope to see many of you brave souls there.

Our 2011 membership forms are out. You may download one by googleing Linkville Lopers .org. If you have any trouble I will send you one. Please let me know. They will also be available at the Romp and Hangover Handicap. Your continued support is responsible for the many runs held around the basin along with two $500 scholarships to Cross Country runners for 2011 graduating seniors.

Moore Mt. Run.

Just because there is snow on the ground, although it is disappearing quickly, that is no reason to stay off the trails. The last few weeks it's required snowshoes to get up there, but now we are back to just trail shoes. When the snow does return, you might try snowshoeing if you haven't. I believe you can rent some at The Ledge if you don't want to spend the money up front. Stop by and talk to Josh and see what you might be able to hook you up with.

I thought some pictures might be inspiring to some of you to get up there and play. We have begun planning the 2011 version of the Moore Mt. Half and expect it to get better every year.

New things to be on the lookout for are a dedicated Moore Mt. Run website and on-line registration.

Now get out there and do some running where ever you can.

Remember that there are the weekly runs on Wednesday nights at Veterans Park.

Rob Coffman has offered to do the Turkey Trot. Thanks Rob!! The race is a 5k run/walk (predict your time, no watches allowed) at Moore Park on Saturday November 27, 10:00 AM. Election of officers and other information

The next meeting of the Linkville Lopers will be Wednesday November 17, at 7:00 PM at 133 North 4th. We will have nominations for officers. If necessary, we will vote at the December meeting. All positions are open. President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and three Board members. These are two year terms. As far back as I recall we haven't had voting as we are lucky to just get people to volunteer for these positions. If you or anyone you know would be interested, please come to our meeting. Our current officers are Homer Garich, President; Chad Elbert, Vice President; Jeff Franklin, Secretary/Treasurer; and Board members Scott Murchison, Denny Brumback and Jeff Sparks.

We are desperately looking for a race director for the annual Turkey Trot to be held on Saturday November 27 at Moore Park. This does not involve a lot of time. 2-3 hours on race day. If anyone is interested please contact me. email or phone at 882-1453 or 281-3838.

Wednesday Night Run.

It sounds like last week went well. For those of you not on our local email, here is the latest from Homer.

We had a good turnout last Wednesday. Roughly 8 or 9 runners and 3 or 4 walkers. This Wednesday we are meeting at Mias and Pias at 6:00PM. MMR results.

Thankyou to all that participated in the first MMR on the 26th. What a great day for a race. I thought I would first start with an update on Dan Warner. He tripped during the 5K and cut his face by his eye and broke a finger. Thanks to the efforts of the nurses that were participating and voluteering, he was in the ambulance and off to the hospital very quickly. They were even able to get his car up to the hospital after the race was over. I can't thank you ladies enough for being there. Jeff was able to get in touch with him last week and he is doing well. The ER had to do some work on his face and set his finger but he was able to go home that day and is considering running again after he heals up.

I'll get some pictures posted but wanted to get the results out to everyone.

We had a total of 78 participants in the two events. This was an amazing turnout and I hope you all had fun on the challenging trails at Moore Park.

Wednesday night group run/walk.

We are trying to get people together for a weekly group run/walk. Next Wednesday September 29th we will meet at Veterans Park at 6:00pm. When everyone shows up we can decide how far and where we want to go.

We would like to try to make this a weekly get together that is just for fun all skill levels welcome.

Spud Run.

Can you believe it is that time or year again when they start harvesting potatoes? Well whether you want to believe it or not, fall is hear.

With that in mind it is time to start thinking about the SPUD RUN. This is a fun little run that has been put on for years by the Lopers in conjunction with the Merrill Potato Festival. The races start at 9:00 am at the corner of West Main street and HWY 39. If you head South through Merrill you'll see us set-up on the right. Race day registration starts at 8:00am and you can pre-register if you like. It makes it easier on the race directors if you do pre-register, so try to send it in early. After the race plan to enjoy the festivities of the Potato Festival and parade.

There is a 5 mile run and a 1 mile run/walk. The cost is $5. We'll be putting entry forms around. They'll be at The Ledge, GNC, Ella Redkey, Harbor Fitness and were ever else we can get them.

The proceeds from this event and all Linkville Lopers event go to help the club put on these local events and to raise money for our scholarship fund. We will be giving out first scholarships this year. There will be more to come about the scholarships in the next month.

Update on Moore Mountain Run.

With only two weeks until the race I thought it would be good to get some pictures out to everyone. The pictures below show some of the great views of the lake and Mt. Shasta that the trails provide. Of course if you pick your head up to enjoy these during the race you'll probably end up tripping on a rock.

Things are coming together nicely. If the weather will hold out this will be a great run. The leaves are starting to turn on the trees so it will be colorful too.

For those interested in volunteering, we'll be meeting on Saturday the 25th near the tennis courts at Moore Park at 1:00pm to make the final preparations and course markings.

Run for the Birds shirt update

Alex Pardo is a 9th grader from Tulelake High School. The artwork Alex is holding is that of a black-necked stilt, a common shorebird that nests in the Klamath Basin. Alex is a very talented artist who created and provided us with the shorebird drawing that was the artwork for the t-shirt used for both the "Run for the Birds" and the International Migratory Bird Day. Alex based his drawing on a photo by Matt Hartung.
